Expert Ring-Buying Tips.

Have Smaller Hands?

Proportions are important when it comes to smaller hands, and Pear, Marquise, and Oval-shaped diamonds can create the illusion of a longer, slender finger. Consider a thinner band also, as a too-wide band can take up too much space on a small hand.

Long Fingers?

The great thing about long fingers is that they are not in need of lengthening solutions.  Oval, Cushion, Square, and Emerald (horizontally worn) are great cuts for long fingers.  And round stones look beautiful on ALL hand shapes.

Wider Fingers?

Three-stone rings flatter wide fingers, as do medium to wide bands. (A thin band can make your hand appear larger than it is.)

Are There Any Designs That Can Be Tricky to Resize?

Rings with  detailed hand-engraved patterns or gemstones set all around the shank can cause headaches. Avoid them by simply leaving a blank section at the bottom of your ring to allow for any potential resizing.

What if My Knuckle is Bigger Than the Rest of My Finger?

Once over the knuckle, a ring can spin a little too easily. You can address this issue in the design phase by adding contact points to the shape of the band.

What About Skin Tone?

Those with a pink/rosy undertone who sunburn easily usually fall under the cool skin tone category and are well suited to white colored metal; while those with darker/olive skin who tan naturally fall into the warm skin tone, which finds gold flattering. Those in the  middle can’t go wrong with rose gold (which many find universally flattering).
